The histor} of the case, as far as can be ascertained both fromthe patient and from the medical notes from France, is as follows :— Private M., aet. 19^, was wounded in the left shoulder by a large fragmentof shell. In consequence of the heavy shelling it was impossible to bringhim in for many hours after his injury, with the result that when he didarrive at the dressing station he was practically moribund from loss ofblood and shock, following the severe nature of his wounds.
