Efforts were frequently made to relieve hercondition, the ladies of Seattle at one timeproviding her with a more comfortable home,which she refused to occupy, returning to hertumble-down cabin. With each succeedingeffort to better her condition the lines of herface became more set and rigid, if possible,until finally the task was given over and shewas allowed to come and go as she pleased. Both Angeline and her father embraced thewhite mans religion, being members of theCatholic Church, and when asked if she were.
