The Holy Chalice. Saint Mary of Valencia Metropolitan Basilica Cathedral. Valencia. Spain


The supposed Holy Chalice aka Holy Grail exhibited in the Cathedral of Valencia. The Grial was gave to the Temple by Alfonso V of Aragón (aka Alfonso the Magnanimous) in 1437. This relic is a cup of calcedony of 7 cm. height by 9,5 cm. of diameter, with base and handles added lately. Cientific studies have dated the cup around the 1st century and probably by an Antioch atelier. Saint Mary of Valencia Metropolitan Basilica Cathedral. Its construction began in 1262 in Gothic style, over the ruins of the old arab Mosque. Also contains previous elements from Romanesque and subsequents from Baroque. Valencia. Valencian Community.
