The south facade of the Chateau of Cherveny in the Loir et Cher department of France.

The Chateau at Cheverny is situated south of the city of Blois in the Loir and Cher department of France. It is one of the most visited chateaux in a region famous for its chateaux and castles - the Chateaux of the Loire. The estate has been in the hands of the same family for more than six centuries. It was one of the first stately homes to be opened to the public in 1922. The Chateau also has famous kennels with its pack of hunting dogs. These are worked twice a week in the season and the kennels are a popular tourist attraction.
