Mus-tered out August 31, 1861, and immediatel_vre-enlist^d in the First MassachusettsBattery. Was promoted to Corporal,October 30, 1861, and to Sergeant Febru-ary, 1863, in campaign under GeneralBurnside ; and finally mustered out August29, 1865, at Charlestown, Va., after closeof the Southern Rebellion. During thewar he participated in the following battles :Siege of Yorktown, Battle of \\illiamsburg,]\Iay 5, 1862; followed by WhitehouseLanding and Hanover Court House.
