There is still a presidio on the same site as that founded by the Spanish, and in thegarrison park is the oldestclay house in San Fran-cisco. Somewhat to thesouth is Golden Gate Park,a former waste of dunesoccupied by squatters, butnow transformed into asemitropical paradise.
