Austria / Hohe Tauern National Park - Impacts of Climate Change: glacier melting. Pasterze glacier beneath Mount Grossglockner.

Austria / Hohe Tauern National Park - Impacts of Climate Change: glacier is melting. Mount Grossglockner (3798m), Austria's highest peak, towering above the large Pasterze glacier. The glacier, Austria's largest ice stream, has been retreating rapidly over the past decades due to rising temperatures and change in precipitation regime and is falling apart increasingly. Where the ice disappears, melting water lakes and moraine hills remain.
