Burscough, Lancashire, UK. Restrictions after Avian Flu discovered in Martin Mere. Bird flu has been detected in a wild bird found dead in the nature reserve. A Greylag Goose tested positive for the virus and feeding restrictions have been introduced together with disinfectant mats. The wildlife reserve is a temporary home to many thousands of migratory Pink-footed geese, ducks and whooper swans over the winter months, and there are fears of a large scale outbreak of the disease.
