180511-N-LI768-1024 SAN DIEGO (May 11, 2018) Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Andrew Spears, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), stands by as the guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) arrives at Naval Base San Diego. Dewey returned to home port following a three-month deployment to the East China Sea, Philippine Sea and Western Pacific with the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) supporting training under the Pacific Fleet’s “Up-Gunned” ESG concept.
