Penis deformity. Congenital hypospadias of the penis of a 31-year-old man. A pointer has been inserted into the penis to show the location of the urinary meatus, the external opening of the urethra, the tube that brings urine from the bladder to the end of the penis. The urinary meatus is normally located at the end of the glans, the tip of the penis, here seen above the pointer. A congenital deformity is one that is present from birth. Normally, a defect like this would be surgically corrected in childhood. The patient's penis also has a chordee defect, seen here as the tip of the penis being bent. See image M865/299 for a view of the urethral deformity without the pointer.
