Lava formations on Djúpalónssandur black sand beach in the Snæfellsnes (Snaefellsnes) peninsula, western Iceland
Djúpalónssandur is a black sand beach and bay in Iceland. It was once home to sixty fishing boats and one of the busiest fishing villages on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in west Iceland, but today the beach is deserted. On the beach there are remains of the Grimsby fishing trawler Epine that was wrecked there on March 13, 1948.
