December 13.—Fits recommenced. January to March 1903.—Much vomiting and headache ; large hernia March 8, 1903. —Large new growth in lung. Multiple secondary growths in brain. The microscopical section shows the cells arranged in groups around the blood-vessels. The cells are mostly round ; some are oval and spindle-shaped. 164 SOME POINTS IN THE SURGERY. From a girl, aged 14., admitted under the care of Dr. Bristowe, November 4, months before her admission her sight began to fail, strabismus and doublevision being observed ; in a few weeks vomiting and headache came on, but duringall the time there had been no giddiness and no fits. On admission there was severe double optic neuritis, and sight was much impaired,the left eye having no perception of light ; convergent strabismus of the left was impaired on the left side. There was no paralysis or staggering, andno loss of sensation. During the five months she was under observation in thehospital there were frequent attacks of headache and vomiting.
