It seems proper to review these experiments in the light of this companysexperience, so that its patrons and other readers of The Locomotive may duly estimatethe value of the support which it is claimed they afford the theories and devices abovementioned. The illustrations are made from the text, and the drawings of the report ofthe committee, with the intention of giving, to some extent, self-explaining views of theessential features of the apparatus, omitting some details which relate more particularlyto accuracy in scientific data.
