Night vision photograph of man next to tree. This image was obtained using an image intensifier in very low light conditions. Image intensifiers use the visible spectrum Âand a small part of the near infrared for detection. The incoming photons strike a photo cathode which produces an electron emission. The electrons are then amplified using a micro-channel plate and then focused onto a luminescent screen via an electron lens. This screen reconverts the electron signal into light which is bright enough to observe.
