A sign reads 'peep show'. SHEFFIELD; UK: WILD photographs have shed a light on the raunchy goings-on within the former Britain?s largest swingers club that never reopened after Covid. La Chambre in Sheffield was once a thriving club in the northeast of the city and its eccentric owners Barry and Marie Calvert were enthusiastic devotees to the lifestyle ? which they said had strengthened their marriage. At the height of its fame, it was the biggest swingers club in Britain and, legend has it, tourists used to visit all the way from America. La Chambre first opened in 1998 and the previous owners have written many books about the lifestyle and were also featured on TV shows. Empty for many years, the building is due to be demolished and redeveloped into 700 new homes. Now photographs and video captured by photographer Hippie Alien Explores (34) with a Samsung NX1000 camera have shown the former club dilapidated and dirty years after it shut its doors for good. Condom wrappers were found on the sideboards and waterproof mattresses lined the floor of one of the ?playrooms? where orgies could take place. Handcuffs were attached to the wall in a sex dungeon and pornographic murals were vandalised with graffiti. There were also plenty of ?glory holes? for the anonymous insertion of private parts and tight cubby holes where guests could get friendly with a lover. Photographs also revealed special ?peep show? booths for those who preferred to watch rather than participate. ?When it was up and running, it was quite a famous club a lot of people knew about it and when it shut down it became a hot spot in the urban exploring community so I thought I would go and have a look around myself,? said the photographer who spent around three hours exploring the old haunt for the sexually curious. ?I love to capture the natural decay a building goes through when it has been left, it has a very post-apocalyptic feel to it,? they added. ?Other people are usually a little concerned for saf
