An English Rose, Rosalind photographed in the garden of David Austin’s Nursery, Albrighton, Wolverhampton, UK.

An English Rose, Rosalind - A low shrub around high and wide, bushy and vigorous, continuous flowering. Flowers single, medium or rather small, soft pink, deeper towards the edges, showing numerous stamens. Scent unremarkable. Raised by David Austin in 1995. Parentage: not recorded. Rosalind was the love of Orlando in Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’; disguised as a boy, she teaches him how to woo his love. Graffiti on trees are nothing new “There is a man, haunts the forest, that abuses our young plants with carving ‘Rosalind’ on their barks; hangs odes upon hawthorns, and elegies on brambles; all. forsooth, deifying the name of Rosalind.” Act 3; scene 2.
