It was called Transitoriumbecause it served as a passage from the ForumRomanum to the Subura and Carinae. It wassometimes called Forum Palladium, because atemple of Minerva stood in it. There was alsoa sanctuary of Janus Quadrifrons at the inter-section of the roads communicating with theother fora and with the Subura [see p. 498, a].There are some remains of these temples and. In it was the Temple of Peacededicated by Vespasian after the end of theJewish war and containing spoils from theJewish Temple. Part of the circuit wall ofthis forum remains, opposite the N\V. endof the Basilica of Constantine.—5. ForumNervae or Forum Transitorium, was a small of the wall of the forum.—6. Forum Trajani, built by the emperor Trajan, who employed thearchitect Apollodorus for the purpose. It laybetween the Forum of Augustus and the CampusMartius.
