Cairns Post Sat 13 July 1940 Miss Railways Visit To Cairns Miss Babe Warland, the Railways entrant in the Queensland Patriotic Fund competition, arrived in Cairns on Thursday night on her tour of the State. Miss Warland will leave by the mail train on Wednesday for Gladstone. In an interview yesterday she said this was her first visit to Cairns and she hoped to see as much as she could of the city and district, at the same time meeting the railway employees. Yesterday the charming visitor when the rounds of the railway departments. To-day she will inspect the city, and to-morrow will journey to Kuranda in the grandstand train excursion. On Monday Miss Warland will proceed to Malanda, where that night a combined dance will be held by the Railway and Post Office staffs for the patriotic funds. The visitor will return to the coast on Tuesday.
