The empty massive NYCHA Prospect Plaza housing project complex in the OceanHill-Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York on Sunday, May 19, 2013. The 1500 tenants were removed in 2001 when the NYC Housing Authority planned to renovate the apartments in the four buildings. The buildings have been empty since then as NYCHA finally decides to tear down the buildings this year after determining that rebuilding is more economically feasible that renovating. The buildings have been vacant for over twelve years although one was torn down in 2005 for small scale affordable housing. (© Richard B. Levine)
