The Hollyhock requires a deeply dug, well-drained soil, enriched with thoroughly decayed manure, and should be liberally supplied with water during dry weather. A slight protection throughout the winter will be beneficial. An occasional spraying with Bordeaux mixture, which should be applied early in the growing season, usually prevents the disease, which is prevalent in some localities.
