A local resident uses an old pickup truck to drag a grading tool on the land just across the Arkansas River from downtown Salida, Colorado, is now vacant and barren, owned by the Union Pacific Railroad. Salida is a historic railroad town that supported the mining industry in and around the Arkansas River Valley. The Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad laid the original tracks through the valley.
