Sergeant Chad B. Koss, drill instructor, Receiving Company, instructs a recruit to respond louder during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Sept. 11. Recruits are required to follow all instructions from drill instructors throughout the course of training. Their drill instructors supervise them every day, everywhere they go. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate Dec. 8.
