The parish church at Turville used in the filming of The Vicar of Dibley
The windmill perched on top of a steep ridge overlooking the village of Turville provided some of the scenery for the filing of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". Down into the village and St. Mary the Virgin Church dating back to the 10th Century achieved its fame in the "Vicar of Dibley", which was based on Turville village and its inhabitants! "Good Night Mr. Tom" was also filmed in the village as are many of the "Midsomer Murders" episodes. Turville was also the backdrop to “By The Pricking Of My Thumbs” by Agatha Christie staring Geraldine McEwan as Miss Jane Marple, originally aired on Sunday February 19, 2006 on ITV1.
