This is the largest of all. The cry of this bird is harslier and deeper than the common species {Pitangus sulphuratus), but not so loud and piercing. It is altogether a less fierce and pugnacious bird, and will often be seen perched in the same attitude for long ; Genus ONYCHORHYNCHUS Fischer. OnycJiorhynehus Fischer, Zoognosia, p. 31, 1814. Type O. eoronatus (P. L. S. Mull.).. Fig. 86.—Onycliorliynchus eoronatus. This genus is easily distinguished by the long and erectile crest, which covers the whole of the crown and nape. The bill is wide and flattened, the width being about half the length of the exposed culmen, the tip of the upper mandible sharply hooked, and the gape furnished with largely developed rictal bristles.
