German prisoners at Base Section 1, Camp 5 in Saint-Nazaire, France, can be seen in the image engaged in construction work to build their bunks inside the stockade. As part of their daily routine, around 900 prisoners are shown involved in this activity. The photograph was taken by Cpl. McLaughlin on September 10, 1918, and was approved by the censor.
