The Manneken Pis, located in the city center of Brussels, Belgium, is an iconic bronze statue depicting a young boy urinating. This quirky yet beloved landmark has been a symbol of the city since the 17th century. The statue, also known as Petit Julien or Het Brabants Kindeke in Flemish and Dutch, was designed by sculptor Hieronymus Duquesnoy the Elder and installed in 1619. Various legends surround the statue, with the most popular one involving a young boy who saved the city by urinating on a burning fuse, preventing the explosion of gunpowder stored nearby. The Manneken Pis is not only a historic monument but also an important part of Belgian cultural heritage and local tradition. The statue is frequently dressed in different costumes, which are designed and donated by various individuals and organizations. The costumes are changed according to a schedule, with the statue sometimes dressed up to three times a week. Over the years, the Manneken Pis has accumulated a collection of more than 1,000 costumes, which are displayed in the nearby GardeRobe MannekenPis museum.
