Basil D'Oliveira played a major role in bringing down South Africa's apartheid is famous not for his five Test centuries but for the affair that saw South Africa's racist policies exposed for the world to the chance to play for South Africa, he moved to England and joined Worcestershire. He qualified to play for England in 1966 as an all-rounder and was Wisden's cricketer of the year in 1967.
