Eesponding- to these resohitions, came the following, adopted October28, 1900, by the Industrial Council of Labor Unions of Kansas City, Mo: WHEEEAS, The Organized Labor of St. Louis has issued an appeal tothe Union men of the State to vote for Amendments 4 and 5 on electionday; and, WHEEEAS, Said amendments relate to the Worlds Fair, to be held inSt. Louis, and the adoption of said amendments wdll give to Union menrecognition and work in the construction of the Fair buildings; be it EESOLVED, That we hereby urge all Union men to vote for these. HUCKET, returns of the November (1900) election showed that all of theconstitutional amendments had carried by large majorities. Amendments4 and 5, permitting the City of St. Louis to issue $5,000,000 in bonds toaid in erecting the grounds, necessary buildings, etc., and authorizing theState Legislature to appropriate $1,000,000 to defraj^ the expense of a Stateexhibit, received majorities in St. Louis of 74,234 and 71,990, 10,964 votes in the city were cast against the bond amendment, andonly 10,983 against the $1,000,000 State appropriation.
