Antique 1854 engraving, Residence of Samuel L. Carleton in Portland, Maine. Carleton's Castle was located at St Lawrence on the corner with Congress Street. It was designed and built by Henry Rowe. Carleton lived in the castle until his death in 1908. His widow continued living there until 1912 and the house was demolished in 1914. SOURCE: ORIGINAL ENGRAVING.
