It roots very deeply and is abountiful provider of nitrogen. Plowing under a good crop of Scarlet Clover is equivalent to 20 tons ofstable manure per acre and even if the Clover be harvested or benefits derived from the wonderful nitrogenous root formation willalone many times repay the cost of seed and labor. It is the cheapest source of nitrogen, and has restored to profitablecultivation thousands of acres of poor land.
