The headlights have an eight or ten-inch re-flector, and are fitted out complete with a sixteencandle power incandescent lamp, which lightsthe track brilliantly for over two hundred feetahead. Storage Battery Plates. E. R. In addition to the question of the density ofthe active material in storage battery plates, asdiscussed in a former article, there are otherpoints which arise, such as the best shape to. New Electric HEAnLiGHT. make the plate, its best dimensions, the shape ofthe perforations in the plates, the metalfrom which the plates are made, the method ofconnecting the plates together, and the characterof the active material employed to fill the per-forations in the plates. On all these points thereis wide diversity of opinion, and it is the writers urged to a deep plate is that immersing in theelectrolyte, which has a tendency to becomemore dense at the bottom of the plate than atthe top, subjects the plate to different degrees ofchemical action at different parts of its surface, and a long rectangular plate has been urged bysome to be a better form. This style of platetakes up unnecessary room, and, being long andnarrow, its tendency will be, unless well sup-ported, to warp out of shape much more easilythan the square form. The square plate seemsto be the one most generally in use. As to thethickness of the plate there is also a diversity ofopinion,
