Any size of penfrom 1-32 to a half inch wide can be used to goodadvantage. In lettering always use a downward pressureand only sufficient to make the ink flow. The smallfigures and arrows show the order in which eachstroke is made and combined for a finished practice always aim to have the capital and smallletters correspond in slant. The small arrows in the illustrations show thedirection of each stroke in the make up of differentletters. When movement exercises are practicedthe utmost pains should be taken to repeat themwith precision, and each effort should be carefullylooked over and studied to find the faults by com-parison with the copy.
