STATUS OF THE SCREW-WORM (Cochliomyia hominivorax) IN THE SOUTHWEST During the period June 23 - 29, a total of 96 infestations, including one of unknown origin, reported from TEXAS; 48, including one of unknown origin, from NEW MEXICO; and 1 from OKLAHOMA, Specimens were reported from 41 coimties in Texas, 8 in New Mexico and 1 in Oklahoma. Screw-worm was reported for the first time this year from Briscoe, Floyd, Terry and Washington Counties, Texas. A total of 118,595,850 sterile flies was released during the period June 23 - 29.
