Cameron Trading Post Arizona USA

A swayback suspension was erected over the Little Colorado River in 1911 creating the first easy access over the gorge. Soon after, two brothers, Hubert and Richardson established Cameron Trading Post, visited at that time only by the Navajo & Hopi locals to barter their wool, blankets, & live-stock for dry goods. The Cameron Trading Post has been a Grand Canyon lodging haven for travellers, traders, vacationers and explorers who come from all points of the globe. Just 30 minutes from the Grand Canyon National Park entrance, But the Cameron Trading Post is more than an Indian lodge or Grand Canyon hotel. Established in 1916, the Cameron Indian Trading Post has become a showplace for fine Native American art and Southwest art. With its beautiful and unique Native American Indian decor, houses some of the finest Native American Indian art in the Southwest, both contemporary and antique Indian art. Visitors are surprised to find the suspension bridge spanning the Little Colorado River Gorge - the river pathway to the Grand Canyon - behind the hotel lodge and delighted at the view. The Restaurant boasts antique furnishings, a huge fireplace, and a beautiful pressed tin ceiling. Cameron Trading Post Gallery tells of the original Grand Canyon hotel, built in the 1930’s that knew such guests as Clara Bow and former President Nixon. This building now houses fine contemporary and antique Native American Indian art in a beautiful setting that lends itself perfectly to Southwestern art and decor.
