Spirifer crispus var corallinensis (Geo!, soc. Am. Bui. 11:352; Hall. 1852. Pal. N. Y. 2:328, pi. 74, fig. Qa-h) Distinguishing characters. Uniformly obsolescent plications, an- gular mesial sinus; otherwise like preceding. Found in the Clinton lower limestone, the lenses, and the lower Rochester shale. Not abundant. This variety connects S. cris- pus with S. e r i e n s i s. It is characteristic of the Coralline limestone of eastern New York. Spirifer eriensis Grabau (Fig. 119) {Gcol. soc. Am. Bui. 2:366, pi. 21) Distinguishing characters. Ventricose pedicle valve, of subrhomboidal outline, Fig. 119 spirifer eriensis high area, pronounced angular mesial sinus uniformly increasing in width forward, strong frontal emargination; sinus bounded by strong rounded prominent plications, with fainter.
