Foot anatomy, artwork. The muscle on the right of the foot is the abductor hallucis. Beneath it is flexor digitorum brevis muscle, which acts to flex the first four toes. At bottom left is the calcaneus (heel) bone. At upper left is the tibia (shinbone) and the Achilles tendon (white, left). The Achilles tendon is the largest and strongest tendon in the human body, it connects the heel bone to the calf muscles.
