A lab technician studies slides of blood samples
A technician operates a microscope to get close-up with a patients blood sample which has been mounted on to a slide. A patients blood is investigated to determine blood type A, B, O, the Rhesus-D-factor and, upon indication, the possible presence of potentially harmful antibodies to the patient blood type. The test also looks for the presence of the following infectious diseases: HIV (AIDS), Hepatitis B and C (jaundice), HTLV (leukaemia virus) and Syphilis (sexually transmitted disease).
