The grave of Captain Noel Godfrey Chavasse VC, Brandhoek New Military Cemetery, Ieper (Ypres), Belgium. "World War I Victoria Cross with Bar (Two Awards) Medal Recipient. A Captain in Royal Army Medical Corps, 10th Battalion, the King's (Liverpool) Regiment (also known as the "Liverpool Scottish"), he was the only double Victoria Cross recipient of World War I and only one of three in history. His first VC was won for tending the wounded under fire, August 9 and 10, 1916, at Guillemont, France during the Battle of the Somme. His second VC was won for actions near Wieltje, in Flanders, during the Third Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele)." (Source: .)
