Indigenous Peoples Day, Boston, Massachusetts, USA, 10/10/2020.

Over 300 Massachusetts residents, including many local Native Americans gathered in central Boston on Saturday, Oct. 10 2020, and marched through Boston to Christopher Columbus Park, where a statue to Columbus was removed from its pedestal. The Indigenous Peoples rally was held to demand that the state of Massachusetts do away with the current holiday ‘Columbus Day’ and replace it with ‘Indigenous Peoples Day’ on the second day of October. More than five States have already replaced the national holiday with a holiday celebrating Native Americans or indigenous people. Photo shows demonstrators taking a knee to remember Native American Indians at the pedestal where a statue of Columbus stood in Christopher Columbus Park, until it was removed by the city. The demonstrators are also calling for the city to rename the park.
