J Mr. Franks § has suggested that some of these perforated discsmay have been used as dress-fasteners or buttons, and mentionsthat very similar objects have been found in Mexico, which thereis every reason to believe have been used as buttons. He alsoinstances a specimen from South Wales, which has evidently hada cord passed through it, as the edges of the hole in the centre aremuch worn by friction.
