ARLINGTON, Va. --Maj. Gen. James Jacobson, Air Force District of Washington commander, and 2nd Lt. John Pedevillano stand by during a Purple Heart presentation ceremony in Pedevillano’s honor at the Air Force Memorial, Jul. 14, 2017. Pedevillano, a B-17 bombardier pilot, received the award for wounds he incurred during a forced march as a World War II prisoner of war. More than 15 of Pedevillano’s immediate family members attended the event along with Air Force personnel, members from the Military Order of the Purple Heart, friends and other guests.
