After confirming their commitment to a peaceful way of life, the detainees were released from the Detention Facility in Parwan (DFIP) and welcomed back into the community by their families and tribal elders. Since this Afghan-led reintegration program began in January 2010, more than 400 detainees have been released at community shuras in 13 provinces after a careful review board process determined their suitability for reintegration and after the detainees signed pledges to renounce violence.
