No time was lostbreaking the ground and on the 24th ofSeptember 1900 the corner stone was laidby Bishop Eis with an impressive solem-nity, amidst of a great concourse ofpeople. Throughout the fall and follow-ing spring the work was carried on withsuch success that the 22nd of May couldbe set for the dedication. It was a galaday for Stephenson. Surrounded by 328 HISTORY OF THE DIOCESE OF many diocesan priests and clerical friendsof the pastor from the neighboring dio-cese, Bishop Eis dedicated the new churchto the Most Precious Blood. The church is built of solid brick upona stone foundation, calculated to seat fourhundred people. The style is Gothic andhas cost complete twenty-six thousanddollars, including the altars and otherfurniture. Of the sum only ten thousand
