Fine for massing in beds, edgings or rock-work, and frequently used to sow broadcast over sunny banks, etc. Seed should not be sown until the weather is fairly warm and it is well to mix the seed with three or four times its bulk of dry sand or soil, which per- mits an even and easy distribution of the seed; 6 inches. Hardy Perennial Oriental Poppies Oriental Poppies should be sown in early spring in the open ground as soon as it is fit to work. The plants disappear during July and August, appearing again as soon as the weather gets cool. When this fall growth starts is the time they should be transplanted to their permanent flowering quarters. It is well to mark the places they are planted with a stake to insure the roots against disturbance during their annual resting period. PER PKT. 3741 Orientale {The Large Oriental Poppy).
