Those of us who have spent winters in the warmer coitnlries where our common birds spend the cold weather, rcahze how much more in- teresting these birds are wdien they come back to us after their winter journey, than they are at their winter resorts. I think this is because tlie birds themselves are more interested in life when they return to us. They have something very important to do and their zeal and en- tliusiasm -for their work is made manifest in their songs and ir their actions, and even, in some cases, in the brightness of their pkimagc. 807.
