Such a large addition of glass in one season called for more heating capac- ity, and a James Begg & Co. boiler of 150 h. p. was installed. A very noteworthy feature is the boiler house, with a concrete foundation, con- crete floor and fireproof tiling in the walls of the house. In speaking of the work on the foundation, Mr. Codding- ton says: "We first dug great trenches ajid pitched in the rocks, keeping the work well leveled up with concrete, and after it was well set we hauled out the clay, and we had our ; To cap the climax, and this is now attract- ing more attention than the new green- house, a circular smokestack 105 feet high was erected. The contract for this work was taken by the Alphons Custodis Chimney Construction Co. of 99 Nassau street. New York, which has a great reputation for chimney build- ing. Circular shaped chimney bricks were used, and, working on a scale, the masons can lay them as fast as oblong bricks. The immense product of this range is all handled by Horace E.
