This Bill provided for the issuance by Mendocino county, of bondsto the amount of forty thousand dollars, which bonds were to be of the de-nomination of five hundred dollars each, and should bear the rate of nineper cent per annum ; principal and interest payable only in gold coin of theUnited States, principal payable at any time within twenty years at theelection of the county ; bonds to be signed by the Auditor, and counter-signed by the Treasurer to be valid. A. Pettit, Esq.,were awarded the preference, and were ordered to be filed for adoption, pro-vided the action of the Legislature should be such as to justify the Board inso doing. By January 24, 1872, the Board had been informed of the action of theLegislature as mentioned above, and in accordance with the provisions ofthat Act ordered: That the Auditor procure the necessary blanks for bonds,and interest coupons for the issuance of the bonds of the county to theamount of forty thousand dollars, under the Act of the Legislature for theerection of county buildings, and issue the same under date
