Foetal ear at 12 weeks. Ear (left) and sealed eye (right) of a 12-week-old foetus. At this stage of development (end of the first trimester), the foetus measures about six centimetres from crown- to-rump (sitting position) and weighs about 20 grams. The foetus is able to move its arms and legs, althought the mother is not usually able to feel this movement.
