Homo habilis skull. Homo habilis was a hominid (relative of humans) that lived between around and million years ago. This skull, found in Kenya, is thought to be around million years old. It is sometimes classified as Homo rudolfensis, or even as a late Australopithecus, the genus that predated Homo in the evolution of humans. Homo habilis means \handy man\", and refers to the tool use of this hominid. Two shaped rocks found with the fossil are seen at lower left."
