Two days before I saw him hepurchased a pint of gin and sweet spirits of niter—equal parts—andtook it at one dose. Said he had stoppage* when in the army andthe surgeon gave him this prescription. The urine began to Howthat night, but could not escape the prepuce and formed a tumorupon the end of the penis as large as the crown of a hat. Theextravasation beneath the prepuce continued until he could tolerate. the pain no longer when he incised it with a jack-knife and voideda wooden pail iull of urine.
